The visual artist, Rasta Pizaro (Ras Piz), Michelet Petizil was born on December 7, 1978 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where he resides. Pizaro, a multi-talented artist, is also a recording artist. Most of his lyrics are written in direct relation to his paintings that display his African roots, screams of colors, and the souls of spiritualty. He speaks Haitian Kreyol, Spanish, and English. Pizaro loves to paint market scenes, with lots of colors. “I am always pleased to represent Haiti at the exhibits that I attend”. For a while now, he is exploring a theme of sacred trees, which are abstract, and spiritual ceremonies. He maintains that spirituality and Rastafari are infinitely linked. In addition, there are marine scenes, such as “Bouske lavi” (in search of life). On June 6, 2010, Pizaro opened, l'Atelier " Raskimi & Pizaro ak Lyon Jidatelye”, with his other fellow artists Ras Kimy, Ras Guy, Ras Charléus, and Sista lova. The purpose is to promote Haitian Culture in all its forms, while allowing each artist to adapt based on his/her means. Pizaro’s artworks can be found in the Dominican Republic, Italy, Trinidad and Tobago, France, Spain and United States.
